Lesson Four: Preparation For Power Point Presentation

Today's lesson was really stressful to begin with as I didn't quite understand what they were asking of us as a group. But everything started to fall into place the more images I collected associated with the word twisted. I think that the reason I was struggling was because I was thinking too much into what I was doing trying to come up with a concept before researching enough.

However as soon as we grasped an idea as to what we were really being asked to do I found it a lot easier to work with my group rather than us just concentrating on a slide each, and at that point everything was a lot faster and looked a lot better for combining our strengths.

The photographs below show how we built up the mood boards that will become parts of our slides and gradually added more things to each one, such as samples and drawings:

Week Three: Illustration Workshop

This has definitely been the best lesson so far I really enjoyed myself, although I did find it hard work to begin with as haven't really done as much drawing as I would have liked over the summer.

This is something I ma going to take the time to practice this at any opportunity, so when I am now drawing  ideas in my sketchbook I am going to take the time to do them in the style I was taught. This week I am now going to begin to research the word I have been given for my concept which is: Twister. I am also going to work in my own time to continue working on things that I think influence me personally in this project.

Below are some images of the process we under took during our workshop on Monday and some of my successful outcomes:

Week Two: Trip to The Tate Modern

I did really enjoy the trip to The Tate Modern as they have some really amazing things that are very influential, however there were some pieces there that I really couldn't either understand or get into however I did try.

I did take the time to sit and draw a number of the things I found influential, however a few of the artists such as Bruce Davidson's photography work I didn't feel that I could really draw it and recreate it so it shows it justice, so I decided to look into his work in my own time, which lead me to moving on to something I am interested in my self which is New York Architecture but Bruce Davidson's work definitely sparked the idea.

Below are some photographs of what I have been working with in my sketchbook:

Week One: Visit to Hussein Chalayan

At the moment I am taking the time to look in the library at the recommended books and do some looking online as to other things I can use to influence me. A lot of the books I was thinking of using were in fact rented out so this is something that i am going to revisit. But I spent some time presenting my trip to Hussein Chalayan in my sketchbook, adding photographs and some more rough sketches, which you can see below.

I did enjoy Hussein Chalayan's exhibition however I did feel that it would have made the exhibition a lot stronger and a lot less confusing if they had, had the finished pieces there as well as the process, but it does go with out saying that his work is innovative and something to be inspired by.
